Frequently Asked Questions

What is the turnaround time for GBS services?

Standard GBS projects typically take 6-8 weeks from sample receipt to final data delivery. This includes library preparation, sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis. Custom projects may have different timelines based on specific requirements.

How much DNA do I need to submit?

For standard GBS, we recommend 50-100 ng of high-quality DNA with a minimum concentration of 20 ng/ยตl. For difficult samples (e.g., degraded DNA), we can work with lower quantities - please contact us for advice on your specific samples.

Which species can you work with?

GBS is applicable to virtually any species with DNA. We have successfully worked with plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms. Our protocols can be optimized for different genome sizes and complexities.

What data do I receive?

Our standard deliverables include raw sequencing data (FASTQ), SNP calling results (VCF files), genotyping data (PLINK format), and a comprehensive report with quality metrics and basic population genetics analysis. Custom analysis packages are available upon request.

How do I prepare and ship my samples?

We provide detailed sample submission guidelines including DNA extraction protocols, quality requirements, and shipping instructions. Samples can be shipped on dry ice or in specialized stabilization buffers depending on your sample type and distance.

Do you offer custom panel design services?

Yes! We can design custom genotyping panels tailored to your specific research objectives. This includes marker selection, protocol optimization, and validation services. Contact us to discuss your project requirements.
